The following subject came up today on a lecture:
Should swearing be permitted in schools?
K: I think swearing shouldn't be permitted.
D: So you're saying it should be allowed.
K: No, I'm saying it shouldn't be permitted, shouldn't
D: That means it should be allowed.
K: No, it doesn't.
D: Yes, it does!
K: No, permitted and allowed are the same thing.
D: Okay, if you say so *rolls eyes*
It was longer in reality, but that's the gist of the exchange that went between me and Student D.
